Recycle

What is it?

Recycling is using materials recovered from the solid waste stream to make new products.

Why do it?

Recycling is great for our communities for several reasons:

Diverting recyclables from the dump/landfill extends the life of our dumps/landfills.
Resources are conserved – the water, energy, and raw materials that are necessary to produce virgin products are much greater than what is necessary to produce the same products using recovered material.
Recycling can protect public health (e.g. by recycling lead-acid batteries).
Depending on your location and transportation logistics to near-by recycling facilities, money can be made from buy-back centers.
Recycling can reduce litter.
Recycling also instills community pride.
